The protection of lowland areas from possible tsunami can be done by reforesting them with mangrove forest. In Numfor island, the islanders plant seedlings of mangrove trees along the tidal ground. The reforestation will protect the island from erosion, provide shelter to small fish, crab and shrimp as well as become the breeding ground for birds and fish.
